This guide shows how to configure Luaro in a way that meaningfully reduces distracting phone habits.

Session setup

The first step is creating or editing an existing session, naming it, and adding the apps, categories, or web domains (best works with Safari)

Tap the ⚙️ button to open advanced settings.

Advanced settings allow you to make the session stricter or more flexible depending on your goals.

Here, you can set up a schedule, usage limit, and quick unlocks (sometimes you may need to skip the friction you have set up to check something, this will allow you to do this limited amount of times per day, and unlock apps for only up to 15 minutes)

You can also set an unlock purpose input requirement (before unlocking, you will have to input the reason you are unlocking the group of apps).

Then you can save the session or configure the friction.

Friction configuration

Friction in Luaro is a very powerful tool to make your choices more conscious, prevent yourself from scrolling, or make the idea of scrolling feel disgusting when set up correctly.

Tap on the session to edit it. Tap the + button inside the Edit Session form to add steps.

Then configure the steps you’ll have to complete before unlocking the apps.

After this, you can change the order of the steps by tapping the Edit button and then by a drag and drop gesture. You can delete the step by swiping it left.
